Senioritis

It’s been like a reallyyyyy long time since the last time I made a post on tumblr. Why am I writing one now? It’s because my only class today got cancelled and now I’m just sitting on my butt doing nothing and because it’s the start of a new  month. Didn’t even realize that it’s Feb 1st until 5min ago. Haha.

It’s the spring semester of my senior year at Pacific and I have a MAJOR case of senioritis. The past week I’ve spent way more hours watching shows that studying for my two exams that are just around the corner. It might be surprising, but I’ve been in kdrama mode. LOL. Never really thought I would get caught up in that but they are just too good to resist. I guess this is what taking only 12 units does to a college student. It makes you super lazy. Ughh. Okay, I think I’m gonna try to get some work done now!.. maybe..

after two months of not studying

this has been the most unproductive summer i’ve had in a while. after the end of last semester, i literally had nothing to do back at home. it was cool sleeping and and waking up whenever i wanted. after a few weeks, i started to get bored of such a lazy routine. i even hoped for summer to speed up so to summer session 3 for evolution online so that i can actually have something to work on. in order to fill up some time, i began shadowing at a dental office for a few weeks and even that got boring after the first day. i was also writing my personal statement during this time. my dentist wanted to see my first draft of it and so i made him a copy. he didn’t even read it because he says his writing skills are terrible. instead, he gave it to his colleague who then told me, “this is not your final draft right, because i’m sure you are a much better writer than this.” lol.. well to tell the truth i kinda just threw it together quickly just to have something to present but after much revision, it was ready for submission. after submitting the dental school application, i really had nothing else to do until session 3.

now it is summer session 3 and the first exam is tomorrow. this past week i’ve tried studying for this class but can’t seem to focus. i went to barnes and noble to try and get into the study mood. i actually started reading “Brave New World”, by Aldous Huxley, during my study breaks. eventually i was reading that more than i was studying for evo. of course i didn’t buy the book but just read it while i was in the store. super asian i know, but the book was like $17.99. haha. it felt like my mind was rotting away from not using it so much. the book was interesting and provided some insight into what we value of humans. i recommend reading it if anyone has the time! so after all of that, i don’t know what i was thinking about being bored with no class. now i wish i had those chill days back.. well three more weeks of this and i’ll be free for a week before the start of the fall semester. sigh maybe i should review right now. actually i think i’m going to watch something instead :)

I went to the Obon Festival for the third year in a row in San Jose. There was so much food there but it was a little overpriced. It’s okay though because it’s going to charity anyways. The beef skewers and shaved ice were really good! We actually had to wait in this huge line for about an hour to get the shaved ice, but it was worth it. I accidentally dropped some on the ground and felt bad for the people that accidentally stepped on it.. haha.
In the mini-games section, I played a ring toss game and won a blue teddy bear. I’ve named him “Kumako” after the ramen restaurant that had a bear eating noodles as its icon. The big prize for landing a ring on the tallest bottle was a giant stuffed bunny. I tried a few rounds to win it, but ended up just losing a few bucks. Giant Bunny, I will be back for you! Erik won a bear from another game and ended up giving it to a little kid. Aww!
There were some small shows that went on, which included some drumming and dancing. It was pretty cool to see the people perform and I liked the Japanese clothing that they wore. People were joining in but I had no clue what they were doing, so I just watched from the side. I wonder if I will be making it four years in a row next year! :D

Ran into Gabe Bondoc at Urban on the day I felt like a blob, hah.
Thanks for taking the picture, Elly!

Haha I was like “hmm that guy looks familiar.. is it Gabe Bondoc!?”. LOL. He needs to shave the sideburns though because it kinda made him look like Wolverine from X-Men. Yay for Urban! :D

Spent this Sunday at the Boardwalk in Santa Cruz! Note to self, make sure to leave early to avoid traffic when you know that many people are also heading to the same destination. It took some people six hours to get there because the traffic was intense. If you ever need a taxi driver, call up Tejas because he will get you wherever you want in a timely fashion. He will cut people in traffic with no remorse. We even avoided a twenty minute wait for a parking lot because he cut to the front of the line. haha!
The weather was nice and sunny but going bare-footed in the sand was like walking over hot coals. People covered the beach and the rides had long lines. Ryan and I went to the O’Neil shop and bought matching dark blue tank tops. He also bought this cool straw hat. Kinda looks like those hats that Asian people wear when working in the field. Later on at night, Janette bought the same tank. Yay for triplets!
It felt good to finally play some volleyball again. The number 9.8 is not the weight, in ounces, of Derrick Rose’s new basketball shoes. It’s probably my serving percentage in volleyball today, which is pretty darn bad. lol. My feet still feel like they are burning but it was really fun to get some exercise done on such a nice day.
At the end of the afternoon, the sand had cooled and it was time to relax. Aaron dug himself a seat in the sand. It looked comfortable and so made one as well and laid down into it. Best idea all day! It was so refreshing and it gives you that kind of natural feeling when you are outdoors. Never going to bring beach chairs again. haha. Overall, I really enjoyed going to the beach today! Hmm its two in the morning, which means.. Happy Fourth of July!! Have a good one! Seriously. It’s good to unwind yourself every now and then.
Two words of the day:
1. “Chunky”. Someone used this word to describe the girl that he is attracted to. He says the girl isn’t skinny and not fat, but she is “chunky”. Not quite sure I understand but it must be a good thing!
2. “Argh”. Actually, this is more of a sound rather than a word. Whenever this girl bumped the volleyball, she would “argh!”. It sounds like the grunt that female tennis players make when they hit the ball. I thought it was funny. lol.Oh one last thing! Someone told me today that my arms look a little bigger. Does that mean that going to the gym and working out is working? I really hope so!

Just got home from watching Transformers 3 in 3D at the movies. It was a Thursday night and I didn’t expect there to be a line but there was a small one right outside the doors when I got there 30min before showtime. The movie was good but except that it was like 3hr long. Fighting scenes were really cool but it seemed like they were dragged out way too long. I actually haven’t seen the 2nd movie yet so I was a little lost. I was wondering who the main evil decepticon was the whole time, but it wasn’t until after the movie that I found out it was Megatron. such a fail! LOL. Megan Fox wasn’t missed because Rosie was pretty much just as hot ahah. Overall, I would recommend seeing this movie! Get a gold movie ticket beforehand to avoid paying the full ticket price lol.
